Plasterwork Restorations

At Viana Plaster Mouldings, we can offer a varied series of options for restoring plasterwork features in your property.

Matching-In Services

We can provide a matching-in service for repairs, where replacing a room's cornice (etc.) is not an option. For a plain-run cornice, starting from a template (as it appears, including paint build-up), we will run out and/or produce a new mould for (depending on the amount required) your existing coving, to match straight in to that which is currently installed. Otherwise (for ornate plasterwork), a sample would need to be provided in order to copy the pattern (though, you might be lucky - we have an extensive range of ornate moulds stocked that aren't listed on the website, so feel free to send me a text or an email!).

Stripping & Copying Services

Viana is plenty experienced in such restoration work where an existing cornice needs restoration, having collaborated on numerous occasions with clients inside listed buildings. Aside from just matching-in to existing, we also offer an expert copying service, where we delicately strip decades of paint accumulation from your plasterwork to uncover the original craftsmanship, as it would have appeared when first installed. We then take a direct mould from this new 'master' in order to furnish the room as required.

Specialist Restoration Services

For items which are damaged irreparably (per our standard maintenance practices), through some of our trusted partners we are able to provide some alternative, specialised restoration services from which to produce new moulds. These chiefly include traditional clay carving from a prosthetics artist, or the modern and innovative process of 3-D printing ideal for geometric patterns (as on dentils & art-deco cornices).

In-Situ Repairs

Finally, through our list of recommended fitters, we are able arrange repair visits to your property for routine maintenance to your existing plasterwork, just to iron out any wear and tear they might have picked up over the years.
